As mentioned in June 2022, BVQ withdrew the support for Brocade BNA scanners with version 2022.H2.1. BVQ no longer provides fixes or support in error situations.

(warning) With the public release of BVQ version 2023.H1.x, Brocade BNA scanners & systems will be removed completely without further notice!
This means existing scanner configurations and existing BNA systems in the BVQ database will be deleted during the update process.

We strongly recommend to move to Brocade REST scanner within BVQ. (Brocade Network Advisor support ended 2/8/2022 - see https://www.broadcom.com/support/fibre-channel-networking/eol for further information)

(info) More information about the requirements for the Brocade REST Scanner:

  • You can use the Brocade REST Scanner in BVQ starting with FOS version 8.2.1b onwards (with this version, FOS provides all the necessary data via the REST interface).
  • FOS 8.2.1b also means, that Brocade Gen4 switches are no longer supported with the REST Scanner, as these only go up to FOS version 7.4

If you need assistance for the migration, please get in contact with the BVQ team.

April 11th 2022, BVQ version 2022.H1.2 was released. After 2 Family & Friends versions this is now the first publicly available version for BVQ 2022.H1.x.

The release notes & changelogs for the new version can be found here https://bvqwiki.sva.de/display/BVQ/BVQ+2022.H1.

A brief overview of the innovations in this version:

  • OS Agents: This version includes the new OS Agent for Linux, some refinements to the AIX OS Agent and an all new generic OS model
  • Alerting - Occurrence Counter: Now you are able to set up alert rules triggering not on a single violation but on a series of occurrences. This can be done by consecutive violations or violations per time.
  • Alerting - SLA Mode for Occurrence Counter: Another enhancement to BVQ's alerting is the SLA mode. While the occurrence counter is intended for active monitoring of an environment, the SLA mode allows to assess the state of a custom alert rule for a defined timeframe.
  • Grafana: Several dashboards for new and existing platforms have been added and existing dashboards have been reworked and improved to utilize the new features in Grafana 8
  • Grafana - Alert result tables: This feature allows you to monitor your BVQ alert rule within Grafana dashboards
  • BVQ WebUI Editors: Now you can modify your Room/Site or Controller configuration from the WebUI directly
  • Reporting: 3 enhancements allowing you a more intuitive setup of custom report templates
  • Expert GUI - Aspects for all chartable attributes: Objects in treemaps can be sized using aspects. In previous BVQ releases only selected attributes were available as aspects. In this release of BVQ, all chartable attributes and performance metrics are valid aspects.
  • User experience evaluation with Matomo: See https://bvqwiki.sva.de/x/FIBzC for further information

The detailed changelogs for the 2022.H1.x releases can be found here:

Dear BVQ Customer,

With the upcoming BVQ update 2022.H1.2, we’ve added the function to create and analyze anonymized user statistics. This gives us the opportunity to constantly adapt BVQ to customer needs and further develop our tool. Your data will only be used with your prior consent. Customer-specific infrastructure data will not be collected. You can see which data we collect and how it is displayed in the attached PDF (EN/DE).

For this purpose, you will be asked whether anonymous user statistics may be collected when launching BVQ the next time. This consent is voluntary and can be revoked by you at any time. The processed data does not allow any conclusions on your identity. You will find more information in the PDF attached.

Help us make BVQ even better for you!

Thank you for your trust and loyalty.

Your BVQ Team

Due to security issues in Grafana version 6.x, BVQ will withdraw the support of this version with the public release of version 2022.H1.

When updating to the 2022.H1 public release Grafana 6.x will be deinstalled automatically by the BVQ installer.

With version 2021.H2 Grafana Version 8.x was introduced and installed in parallel to Grafana version 6.x (Grafana 6.x was automatically moved to TCP Port 3001, Grafana 8.x uses TCP Port 3000)

IMPORTANT

Grafana 6.x dashboards are not supported with Grafana 8.x.
If you use custom dashboards with Grafana 6.x, these must be migrated to version 8.x manually.

The BVQ team can support in this case. If you need assistance for the migration, please get in contact with the BVQ team.

(info) The predefined BVQ dashboards were migrated to the new 8.x version and are thus already available since BVQ version 2021.H2.
