BVQ Systems health map and alerting

The white paper shows how you can use the BVQ Systems Health map and BVQ dashboards to identify a VM host overload and find the reason for the overload.
The white paper was created with a prototype of BVQ version 2021H2.
The installation used includes the following platforms:
- Storage: NetApp Ontab, IBM Spectrum Virtualize, DELL EMC Unity
- Compute: VMware, IBM PowerVM
- Network: Brocade SAN, Cisco SAN
There are different ways in which an overload can be detected with BVQ.
- You find the overload when monitoring with the dashboards
See also: VMware host CPU utilization analysis
- An alert in the BVQ Systems Health map indicates the overload.
The alert might reach you via mail or slack.
- BVQ is connected to an incident management system such as ServiceNow or Jira.
BVQ has initiated the creation of a ticket and thus starts to automate the problem solving process.
You are now alarmed by receiving the ticket
Alerting - automate monitoring
BVQ is delivered with more than 300 system alerts, which are constantly monitoring connected infrastructure. The alerts can be defined very exactly and are thus very well adaptable to the system environment. They also allow combinations of events of different platforms to enable end-to-end alerting.
In the BVQ Systems Health Map, the alert results are presented in a clear and interactive diagram which be sorted by topology or severity or other categories to gain oversight or help to lead the administrator with prioritized work lists.
There are sorts to topology or importance to produce work lists. In the BVQ Systems Health Map you can quickly recognize the problem with the help of the trafficlights. A Host Alert recognizes the situation and the whole segment from the host to the center of circle is set on Alert. With the help of the integrated analysis, the time and the scope of the problem can now be determined very easily. The online documentation often has appropriate links to the VMware Docs in which is what actions are recommended to solve the problem.
